GRATIS MAID SERVICE FOR A VERY WORTHY GROUP!

If you know any woman with any type of cancer you have some idea of what a tough fight it is for her - and for her family. And the day to day living with it gets even tougher. The people at this great non-profit foundation help by offering free professional housecleaning and maid services to help improve the lives of women undergoing cancer treatment.

These nice folks partner with over 800 professional residential maid services that are insured and bonded. These companies' provide four free general cleanings - one a month for four months to patients accepted into the program

Applications for this service can be filled in online by women with any type of cancer so long as they are currently under treatment. (They necessarily need to limit the number of applications received online each day.)

Outsmart Microsoft!

How many times has a message appeared on your computer screen asking if it's OK to report an incident or error report to Microsoft? We'll bet they have never come back to you with a quick solution (or any solution). We'll even bet that they have never come back to you - period.

If you are running Windows XP, here's how to make that pesky nag screen go away for good: Right-click on My Computer. Select the Properties/.Advanced tab/ Error Reporting button and select the "Disable error reporting" option. Leave a checkmark in the "But notify me when critical errors occur" box.

That move alone will eliminate all but the most critical nag messages - the ones that never bring you a solution.

That's it and Shazam - the evil empire is off your back!

Make Your Photos Look Great.

Here's the choice. If you are a graphics professional you can go out and spend lots of bucks for image editing tools. On Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 8:30 p.m. local time, I am taking part in Earth Hour—an event led by World Wildlife Fund in which millions of people around the world will unite by turning out their lights for one hour to make a bold statement of concern about our planet and climate change.

Earth Hour started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia when 2.2 million individuals and more than 2,000 businesses turned their lights off for one hour to take a stand against climate change. Only a year later and Earth Hour had become a global sustainability movement with more than 50 million people across 35 countries/territories participating. Global landmarks such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge, CN Tower in Toronto, Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, and Rome’s Colosseum, all stood in darkness, as symbols of hope for a cause that grows more urgent by the hour.

In March 2009, hundreds of millions of people took part in the third Earth Hour. Over 4000 cities in 88 countries/territories officially switched off to pledge their support for the planet, making Earth Hour 2009 the world’s largest global climate change initiative.

Earth Hour 2011 will take place on Saturday 26 March at 8.30PM (local time). This Earth Hour we want you to go beyond the hour, so after the lights go back on think about what else you can do to make a difference. Together our actions add up.

AN EASY WAY TO KEEP OFF THE SPAM LISTS!Looking for an easy way to stay of those cussed spammers lists? If so here's a neat service that's hassle-free. No need to register or sign up or pay for this one. Just a way to create an e-mail address on the fly that serves only one purpose - to keep you off the spammers lists when you register at a web site. So long as you have no need to hear from the site owners this system works like a charm.

These nice folks let you think up "throw away" e-mail addresses whenever you need to "register" to enter a web site or get to some information you want. Just make up the address and they create your temporary e-mail box automatically. For example you can be Foghorn@mailinator.com - or BigLestor - or RogertTheDodger - or PrettySally --whoever you want to be! Just use your made up address and if you need you can check your mailbox there for any replies within the following two hours. After that the box disappears.

And best of all - you'll never get any spam from the hooligans!

MANAGE YOUR PASSWORDS - WITH EASE!

Are you suffering from password fatigue? We'll bet that you either live dangerously and use the same password everywhere or are going batty trying to remember or hide your 926 different versions!

Here's an easy to use small and simple password vault that works with any program, not just browsers. The handy auto-type feature avoids the chore of switching back-and-forth between windows to copy/paste user names, passwords and other account info.

The National Motorists Association (NMA) provides this site where you can pick the state and city/town where you will be driving. There's a huge selection right down to the tiniest burbs (including 3 in North Pole Alaska for example).Then - Shazam - right before your eyes are the favorite speed trap locations and in many cases a description of any unmarked cars used.

This service is yours for the taking. But then again - you probably don't need it!

DE- CRAPIFY YOUR NEW COMPUTER!

Your new PC usually arrives set up with the operating system and programs you ordered all installed. But did you know that in addition the hardware manufacturer often generates additional revenue from several manufacturers and installs their software on your new unit (whether you want it or not).

Although some of the furtive software may be useful, this helpful program immediately identifies this extra stuff and gives you the option to keep it or delete it from your system (known loosely and crassly as de-crapifying your computer).

Might as well make it your option because this helpful program is on the house.

VIEW TRENDS A NEW FUN WAY!

Ever wonder how often a certain word appears in literature over a period of years - or even centuries. If so, here's a neat program that allows you to enter two or more words or phrases and instantly view a graph showing the rise and fall of their use over time.

For example: Enter "radio' and "computer" plus a time frame from 1800 to 2000 and view the ascent and decline of these two technologies over that period. Similarly interesting charts evolve from the following combinations for example: pirates/nuns, god/devil, and heaven/hell.

This search capability stems for Google's much ballyhooed effort to coral every printed word in the history of the world. Knowing them they'll probably do it. Google never ceases to amaze!

TRICK #1 TRACK YOUR EMAIL!

Have you ever sent an email and wondered whether the recipient received it? If so here's a great way to track your e-mails and not only find out if it was properly delivered, but also if it was read- how long it was read - if it was forwarded and if an attachment was opened.

These folks have a neat system that allows you to add a few additional letters to the recipient's e-address. That's it - they take care of the rest. You can even set up a message to self-destruct after it has been read!

This system is a truly glorifies "return receipt" on steroids but it goes way beyond the old standard certified mail and provides you with valuable intelligence.

Great way to find out what's going on!

These folks have come up with a neat little one trick Pony that will quickly show you where you will end up if you click the little suspect link - before you click. Just paste the shortened URL into the box - click - and Shazam - your eventual destination is revealed without exposing you to the possibly nefarious villains.

Most shortened links are legitimate, but if not, this little service could save your neck!

GREAT PLACE #1 SELL YOUR JUNK AT THE BEST PRICE!

We'll bet you have a bunch of old electronic gadgets and devices in a box or stored someplace around the house or office. We'll bet too that sometimes you scratch your heard and wonder why you're keeping these old cell phones, iPods, calculators, camcorders, laptops, monitors, etc.

This great place will help you clear some space - and maybe add a few shekels to your bank account. You simply enter the name and model of the product and its general condition. When this neat program searches, quick as a wink, you'll get a list of the companies that will buy your heirlooms and the price they'll pay. Every once in a while you may want to convert a file to a different format. For example from a Word document to a PDF file. Here's the hitch - often we need special (and sometimes costly) software to accomplish this.

Then they email it right back to using the format we requested. They will also provide you with web browser button so you can convert files from all your favorite websites with a click. The free version will handle all but the largest files.

Every once in while most of us have three or four words running through our heads - a little snippet that pops up from song from the past. And sometimes it drives us batty wondering what the name of that song was!
